Qin Wu

Qin Wu is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature at the School of European Languages, Culture and Society (SELCS), University College London. Her research comparatively examines objects featured in eighteenth-century Chinese Gothic and Victorian Gothic literature. Her current thesis explores and compares representative objects, such as monsters, artificial objects, and natural landscapes, in eighteenth-century Chinese Gothic and Victorian Gothic. She is particularly interested in the concept of “Chinese Gothic” and in the extent to which the terror evoked by these objects is shaped by their cultural contexts.
